Reponsive design view dimensions are incorrect

I am in the process of building a responsive site, I am using "responsive design view" to show me the dimensions of the page when styling of an element looks incorrect when at a certain screen size. E.g I have created a media query at 990px when an element moves tposition. My media query styling actually takes effect at 860px. When testing this on chrome it appears that the original dimension firefox says my window is at is incorrect when using the dimensions from chrome responsive view my media query and the effects of this media query happen at the same time.

Please note that I am not looking for help with the results of the media query, this works fine when the dimensions for the media query are adjusted :)

Try to set layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to 1.0 (default is -1) on the about:config page.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Thanks for the reply, this is fine for working on my monitor which is reasonably good quality, but when working on my macbook screen with a much higher resolution it is much to small to be useable.

Adjust the value of layout.css.devPixelsPerPx in 0.1 or 0.05 steps (1.1 or 0.9) until icons or text looks right for you.
