Is there a way to start TB and keep it from auto downloads of e-mails?

I have three accounts set up in TB. When I open it I see it download e-mails in the first account which is IMAP. When it goes to the second account which is POP - it hangs and I get the "not responding" error. I figure if I can get in, I may be able to delete the accounty and reconfigure to see if it will work after that.

Win 10 and most recent version of TB.

Have tried: Safe mode with networking - problem persists. Disabled antivirus Allowed TB through firewall

Thanks for any help or suggestions

There are checkboxes and other settings in the Account Settings pages that govern when and how often mail downloads take place. So you could review these and think about changing them.

However, while they may be effective with POP-connected accounts, IMAP has moved towards being a "push" service, where the server offers messages to your client as and when they arrive. I rather think that the account settings don't have very much influence in IMAP-connected accounts.

You could take your computer off-line to prevent Thunderbird form connecting. This may give you a chance to change the settings without it hanging first.
