New computer with Windows 10 - I downloaded Thunderbird, and now I am trying to move my profile folder, *.default, from a pen drive to the new machine. It is calling for a password for these files in my profile as if it is compressed or protected, but they are not compressed that I can see, and I didn't password protect the folder or files. Thanks for any help.

Goodness. I actually did password protect the folder above. Sorry for the trouble. :)

Did you also copy the profiles.ini file?

No, I just have the profile folder. It worked for me when I changed to Windows 7, also Linux.

I suggest that you use the profile manager to create a "new profile" and point it at the transferred profile.

Thunderbird needs a profiles.ini or else a custom launcher script that explicitly nominates the profile to be used.
