I have had difficulties using Firefox ever since I updated to Firefox Quantum (I think it is version 57.0). It is very slow, very very slow. I can't access websites that are perfectly safe that I have accessed with the prior version of Firefox (think Amazon). The screen freezes frequently. I also get messages every time I open the Firefox browser asking me to update. Unless Firefox has released an even newer version of Quantum that fixes some of the bugs I am upset about I don't know why I am still getting the update message. Pretty much it is very frustrating to use, enough so that I have been using Internet Explorer. All I want to do is to delete the last update so I am using the prior version of Firefox. Can anyone give me a simple way to delete this disaster?

Why it asks you to update from ver 57 is for these reasons : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/57.0.1/releasenotes/ https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/57.0.2/releasenotes/

If you would care to try this out before as it is the answers you seek : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.2 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

So the 2nd is to do this please : go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Privacy & Security panel and under Permissions check (put a tick in the box) the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser.

Monitor in Task Manager. Should stay below 2 gigs. If excessive then do below and monitor and change if need to...Test and go up again , go back down, it will eventually get a zone you and it can live with.

Go the 3 Bar Menu then Options --> General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please.

Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 and below is no longer safe to use for every day use do to secuity issues, but 52.5.2 ESR is. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.

You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
