This is what I did today: Delete all bookmarks. Delete all browser data.

Why ? Many bookmarks were old, I stopped using them quite a while ago, there's probably now only like 10 bookmarks I'm using at this time. So I went to Chrome and exported the bookmarks I use there in hope to move them to Firefox Quantum that I have already installed. Since I cleaned up the data I have zero of anything.

Now I just noticed that I CAN'T add those bookmarks by importing them into Firefox Quantum. What the hell happened ? Firefox always had this option and now it's GONE. No Import.

WHAT THE HELL ?

Mozilla what HAVE you DONE?

Ah, I found it.

Well, the guys behind Quantum sure are weird (not to say worse) to implement this in the worst possible way.

The Bookmarks Library is not accessible the same way everywhere else.

In order to open it, you have to select SHOW ALL BOOKMARKS. Instead of it being simply called Bookmarks Library.

Seriously. This is really the BAD way to go about it.

Are you saying one or both of the Import Bookmarks from HTML... or Import Data from Another Browser... options is no longer available?

See Import bookmarks from an HTML file and Import bookmarks and other data from Google Chrome.

There is no Import Bookmars from HTML or Import data from another browser In Firefox Quantum.

The solutions you linked to about the HTML will work in a normal Firefox but will not work in Quantum. There is no such option. Lucky for me I just use 10 bookmarks so it's easy to add but some people have dozens and even hundreds bookmarks, moving all those manually is going to lose Quantum users.

If you installed Firefox Quantum, which is Firefox 57 and later, you should find the two features in the Library window where they always have been:

If you do not have that menu, you may not have the official (unmodified) release.

I don't have that option, and this is an official release, it autoupdates.

A faster way to get to the Bookmarks Library (which shows all
bookmarks ... ) : press Ctrl + Shift + B

The details for how to open the Library window were in the two help articles linked in the first reply in this thread. This is identical to how it worked in earlier versions of Firefox.

HOWEVER, one big difference: the Bookmarks Menu toolbar button is now optional.

The new bookmarks menu button () should work the same way as the old bookmarks menu button (), which was the "right-half" of the inseparable star+book duo.

To add that button, either:

(A) Use the Customize panel (Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars) to drag the icon to the desired spot on the toolbar

(B) Use the method from Bookmarks in Firefox - section entitled: How do I add the Bookmarks Menu button to the toolbar?

  • Click the "Library" button:
  • Click "Bookmarks"
  • Click "Bookmarking Tools"
  • Click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"

Actually no it is not. I know about the library, but it's a bit different, here is a step by step, and maybe it's a problem with the Polish language localization being wrong, I dunno: You go to the bookmarks menu and select OPEN ALL BOOKMARKS, literally, that's how it says on the menu: https://i.imgur.com/1gjiH42.png

Following the command it suggests to open ALL BOOKMARKS. I blame the translation really. It should be :"Otwórz Menadżera zakładek" instead of "Wyświetl wszystkie zakładki".

Yes but the Polish language translation doesn't explain what it does properly which is why I had a problem with this, see above.

Must be so frustrating  !

But it's all clear now, I hope  ?

I think what you see is a fairly literal translation of what it says in English ("Show All Bookmarks"). Perhaps someone in the user interface department decided that the phrase "bookmarks manager" or "bookmarks organizer" would be hard to understand for less sophisticated users. The challenge is to find language that works for all users... difficult.

I see no problem with Manager or Organizer, if someone doesn't understand what that means, they should not touch a computer.
