News articles are not appearing
In the last 45 minutes for some reason, and it now doesn't make any difference if I'm using Firefox or Chrome, I use MSN as my homepage, when I click on a article that I want to read, it opens up a new window, shows me the headline but there is no article to read below that headline....when I open a new window and type in the search bar what it is that I'm looking for, it shows me a a webpage containing that header but when I click on any one of them, CNN, Yahoo, WSJ, etc. the same thing happens....what's going on???

That means something on your system is the cause. As a test, disable your protection programs.
I run Kaspersky....it's on 23/7....as I said...this just happened 2 hrs ago...I disabled kaspersky and I can see the articles in the new window that opens up...but why would it just do that???? I'm not leaving myself vulnerable to malware, spyware, viruses, etc.
What else can be done?
If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.
- make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems
You see the shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar in case content is blocked by Tracking Protection.
- click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection
- check the Web Console for more detail about what content is blocked by Tracking Protection
- "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).
"clear the Cache:
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove the Cookies" from websites that cause problems.
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
Add-ons???? I don't have any add-ons...extensions??? I don't create any extensions....I rarely download anything to add to my computer unless it is to update the software that is already on the machine... I clean the cache every day and remove cookies as well and how exactly would I know which cookie is causing the problem as I stated before, this just mysteriously happened after I was using the computer for about 6 hours with no problems at all...I've refreshed firefox to no avail...the only thing that makes the webpage contect visible is if I turn off my security protection, of which I'm not going to do....so what else is there to do???????
bzzygirl,
You practically answered your own question about what may be causing your problem : Kaspersky - but you don't want to disable (or better yet : remove) it .....
Personal note : I used Kaspersky and had probems - got rid if Kaspersky : no more problems since (and no more wasted money). With Windows Defender and the latest version of Firefox you're best off.
May I suggest that you reconsider your decision not to disable/remove Kaspersky ?
Well I have 548 days of Kaspersky coverage left on my coverage so me not using it is not going to happen. And why all of a sudden would I develop this particular problem when I had the computer on and running for 12 hrs that day without any problem. It just doesn't make sense that out of the blue Kaspersky was the problem....I have more problems with Firefox than anything else! There has to be something that can be done with out me forgoing using Kaspersky.

Your computer, your decision. We can only give you advice and it's up to you to either take it or leave it .....
If you think Kaspersky is giving you problems, contact its support.
