When typing email, app will go crazy and add 25 or more returns by itself; the only way I can stop it is to quit the app; ideas?

Thunderbird goes out of control! I can't stop it from adding returns in the middle of my emails while I am trying to type. It does not happen constantly or consistently. Yes, my software and OS are up-to-date. Yes, I shut down and restarted my computer. Yes, it is plugged in. Thanks for any insight.

If you have a setting in Thunderbird to only allow eg: 72 characters in width, then TB will auto go to a new line at that point. But this would be occuring at a regular and obvious interval.

'Enter' will create a line break if not using paragraph mode else will create a new paragraph - insert two lines. 'Shift' + 'Enter' will insert a new paragraph if not using paragraph mode.

But your comments sound like you are not anywhere near the 'Enter/Return' key.

Another strong possibility is you are accidentally triggering a keyboard shortcut to 'Rewrap message text'. This occurs by using 'Ctrl' + 'R'. I have seen this sort of thing occur when someone has developed a habit of accidentally depressing the 'Ctrl' key with the side of hand whilst typing 'r' in the text and just not realising it.
