I thought my work email address was the primary but my work account (which I do not use at home) does not have a second email address set.

I have tried all other email addresses I have, and none of them have been set up - I've even tried using my university email and this has not been set up. I can't get into my account, and I can't reset the password or change the primary/secondary and I can't find any real support articles on this here or ways to contact Mozilla to ask for confirmation of the alleged primary connected to my email address.

Does anyone have any idea has to how I can resolve this?

Hi Francesca, I think we need to clarify how many Firefox accounts you have, and which one contains the information that you want. The reason I'm saying that is because you need to be signed into a Firefox account just to post in this forum.

If you visit your profile on this site - https://support.mozilla.org/user/francesca.achterberg there is a section at the top that only you can see. It will display the email address you are signed into. Is that address the same as the address you have been trying to log into?

Hi Chris,

I have two accounts. The one I am signed into is my work account - which I use only at work, and has no secondary email address listed. The second account is my personal account which I use at home under actingfrancesca@gmail.com and I am unable to sign into because it asks for the primary email. If I could've signed into the support forum under that email, I would've but again, I encounter the 'Primary Email Required' error.

I have a few other email addresses, which is why I tried them in trying to understand this error, but I only have the two accounts. My personal account is the one I cannot get into and is presenting the error.

This account, which I am using to try and get support, has no issues - it's the one against actingfrancesca@gmail.com.

Thanks.

Hi Chris,

I appreciate you are trying to help, but I am not sure how much clearer I can be that the one I am signed into is my work account not the one I am trying to re-gain access to. The email I have mentioned in my last reply is not the one I am signed in with. I am not going to type out the email for my work account as it's my work email address.

The account I cannot access and am not signed in with should be under actingfrancesca@gmail.com. To break it down Account A (Work) is the one I am using right now to access the support forum, Account B (Personal; actingfrancesca@gmail.com) is the one I need to gain access to but cannot. Account A and B are in no way connected, I have double checked the profile to confirm that my @gmail.com mentioned is not listed as the secondary email.

Thank you.

Hi Chris/Mods,

I still can't sign in, can y'all not just check the email I've given and see what the primary is on it and then tell me? That's why I tried seeking out a private email - because I didn't really want to post it up in a forum, but we're forced to as users. I like the use of Mozilla over other browsers, but this sucks as a method of support and that there is no real solution or help for this problem.

Sorry, those of us doing support even with a Moderator account in this forum don't have access to that type of information, such as email addresses. And this type of support is all we have available to us.

'Primary address required' might indicate that another Firefox Account is using a secondary email address as its "new" primary address, if or when the user lost access to their original email account, to being able to continue using their Firefox Account as their only recourse, short of creating a new Firefox Account with yet another email address that hadn't yet been used with Firefox Accounts.

Forget the "work" and "personal" way that you identify how your use Firefox, an email address is the same for either usage with regards to Firefox Account logins and thus initial registration of a Firefox Account. And "Primary" and "Secondary" don't work well on the same account as far as email addresses are concerned, IMO.

What are you trying to do that you can't now do?
IOW, what Mozilla services / features are you wanting to log in to use with your Account B (Personal) Firefox Account?

Keep in mind that there are so many free web mail services available now, that opening a new email account should be considered although the "vanity" aspect of using your own name as such may not be possible, if someone else is already using it there. Gmail is an option to consider ...
