Firefox set to clear all files when closing, it clearly does not! There are many files that are not 'cleared' why is this and why I have to clear them all with a third party software?

Another gripe, you set not to update and it does, it pesters you until you do so why doesn't it do as it's told to do... there are way round this including deleting the update files and removing Firefox maintenance in add remove programs. Whats the point of giving options when Firefox ignores them?

Time to move on, Firefox is getting 'bloated' and a memory hogger according to Task Manager.

What files are you talking about?

Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar. The button next to History, select Use Custom Settings.

Turn off Always Use Private Browsing Mode Turn on Remember My Browsing And Download History At the bottom of the page, turn on Clear History When Firefox Closes. At the far right, press the Settings button. Turn on ONLY Cache and Form And Search History leaving the others off.

How do you completely turn off update checks in Firefox v64? You can use a policies.json file to disable updates for all users. https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates/blob/master/README.md or https://winaero.com/blog/disable-updates-firefox-63-above/

You can use a policies.json file in the distribution folder in the Firefox installation folder instead as also listed in the article, so no need to use GPO keys in the Windows Registry. • https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customizing-firefox-using-policiesjson

Yes I KNOW all about the settings, they are set to delete when Firefox closes - ALL of the boxes that have the options - but they don't, Internet cache and cookies are still there.

I have to go through the ritual of clearing them so what IS the point of these options... a bit like updates isn't it - yo have th wade through water to stop them! Tell me, should that be a Mozilla option or a user option?

Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history

Firefox Private Browsing is great for viewing websites without saving things like cookies, temp files, and a history of the pages you visit.
