I've added gmail via imap and it syncs ok the messages, but it does not sync all contacts.

I'm missing some contacts that I can see in my Google Contacts, but they don't show up in Thunderbird.

It seems that these are the contacts labeled as "other contacts" in Google Contacts.

I would like to sync all contacts. How can I do that?

Thunderbird does not automatically sync addressbooks. You will need to use LDAP for that. For more info, I suggest doing web search for 'thunderbird ldap' - several websites with tips on that.

So there's something misleading here.

When adding the new account to access gmail with imap, at some point Thunderbird (102) showed me a window with options to connect and sync my calendar and contacts. This gives the impression that it will sync all contacts.

After searching more about it, it's clear now that Google's CardDAV api does not give access to the "other contacts" list.

So, Thunderbird connects to the Google's CardDAV and does sync it all correctly, but only the "contacts" list and not the "other contacts". This is not clear in Thunderbird's documentation.

Additionally, when I add a mail account in Thunderbird, it shows a LDAP option, but it's accessible with Google.

So, I understand that your answer is not correct. Thunderbird does sync the Address Books, but Google' CardDAV is limited to the "Contacts" only, and I need access to the "Other contacts" list.
