Saving all open tabs: links saved but not to the specified folder

Firefox 125.0.2 on Mac

When I press shift+cmd+D to bookmark all open tabs, instead of the links being saved to the designated folder, they are all saved to "Bookmarks Menu". The designated folder itself also appears with these links but it itself is empty.

I would expect shift+cmd+D to bookmark all links in the folder and the folder to appear in "Bookmarks Menu". This is what use to happen ages ago. I'm not sure what caused the change in behavior. Anyone have any ideas on fixing this?

Does it still happen in Troubleshoot Mode?

Are you using the Default Bookmark Folder extension ?

cor-el,

The extension you mention is indeed the cause of the issue.

If I disable the extension, shift+cmd+D saves the links inside whatever new folder I specific. However, this new folder is no longer placed in "Bookmarks Menu" by default but inside another of my folders, let's call it "Foo". The same happens if I use cmd+D to save a single link: the bookmark appears in "Foo". What I'd like is that both cmd+D and shift+cmd+D result in links/folders appearing in "Bookmarks Menu" by default. Is this possible?

I think that the bookmarks are saved to the last used folder, just like what happens if you click the star to bookmark the current tab.

The "Edit This Bookmark" dialog that opens if you click the highlighted star has a checkbox with "Show editor when saving" (shortcut key in the dialog is Alt+S). This item is at the bottom just above "Remove Bookmark" and "Done". You can click the highlighted star a second time to open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog.

See "How do I change the name or location of a bookmark?"

Thanks but is there no way to get the behavior I described?

Currently with the extension enabled things work well for single links: cmd+D saves the link to "Bookmarks Menu" and if I want to change the save location I can just press cmd+D again to get the dialog to appear etc. It's just the strange behavior with shift+cmd+D that is causing issues.

Well shift+cmd+D now seems to be doing exactly what I wanted. The extension is enabled.

The only change I made was to update the extension but I am pretty sure that I'd previously checked that doing so made no difference. I'm unsure what happened but glad it's now working.

Thanks for the help.

Just a bit of a correction to my last post. The following is not really an issue for me but I thought I would note it anyway:

While cmd+D always seems to save links to "Bookmarks Menu" (as desired), the dialog that comes up when using shift+cmd+D does not always have "Bookmarks Menu" as the default save location. I'm not sure how it is choosing its suggested/default save location - it doesn't seem to be the last used folder for example. This means I usually have to change the save location manually. Again, not a big deal but I thought I would mention it for anyone else interested.
