Trouble updating Flash (Mac OS X 10.6.6, Firefox 3.6.15)
For quite a long time now, I have been getting messages telling me my Flash plugin is out of date and needs to be updated. However, when I follow the link to the Adobe download site, all I can see is a textured grey background. If I copy the URL and paste it into the address bar in Safari, I can see the whole page, and I have downloaded and applied the update on several occasions. Every time, Firefox has continued to display the same behavior: (a) telling me I need to update Flash; (b) failing to display Adobe pages (most of them, not just the Flash download page).
I have given info on the version of Firefox and Mac OS X in the header of this question. The Add-0ns window, Plugins tab, shows Shockwave Flash 10.1.102.64. There are no other versions of Flash, but there is Shockwave for Director 11.5.6r606; could this be interfering?

I am having this problem too. I just purchased a Mac Pro and it came with 10.6.6. I installed the newest version of Firefox. I downloaded the flash player and when I install it I get a about 3-4% installation and then it fails. I've tried what I feel like is everything. I have also tried downloading Firefox 4.0 beta and I didn't have any luck with that either. Any help would be appreciated. Chris
The latest Flash version is Flash 10.2 r154
Update the Flash plugin to the latest version.
I've just used Safari (as explained above) to download the Flash player from Adobe's site. It has installed 10.2 r152, not r154. The Plugin Check page shows this as up to date. And I am still getting an empty grey background at the Adobe sites linked in cor-el's post (black at other Adobe sites). Any advice?
