Where can I find a version of the Portuguese (Portugal) Dictionary BEFORE the orthographic agreement that a lot of portuguese do not like or approve?

Just like in this very popular and widely used on-line portuguese dictionary (http://www.priberam.pt/DLPO/), it would be very desirable to be able to use any of two versions of the Portuguese (Portugal) Dictionary: 1) BEFORE the orthographic agreement (aAO Antes) 2) After the orthographic agreement (dAO Depois) I believe option 1) is just an earlier version of the currently available Portuguese (Portugal) Dictionary. a) Please (I beg you) keep the version of the Portuguese (Portugal) Dictionary BEFORE the orthographic agreement (aAO Antes) available for download and let the users choose the one they prefer. b) Please (I beg you) do not update the version of the Portuguese (Portugal) Dictionary BEFORE the orthographic agreement (aAO Antes) with the version of the Portuguese (Portugal) Dictionary after the orthographic agreement (aAO Depois). Let the users choose the one they prefer. c) Please (I beg you) keep supporting the version of the Portuguese (Portugal) Dictionary BEFORE the orthographic agreement (aAO Antes) according to the orthography that is still being taught and used on ALL Portuguese schools from preK to Ph.D.

Please DO NOT discriminate against Portugal and the Portuguese people. Like for many other languages DO the proper translation: Portuguese (Portugal) = Português (de Portugal).

There's no such thing as Português (Europeu). Where exactly do you think Portuguese come from? Brussels? The EU?

Thank you so very much.

I'm answering this is in Portuguese, as this only affects Portuguese users.

Neste momento o dicionário do Firefox 4 e todas as outras aplicações Mozilla é anterior ao acordo ortográfico.

I'll carry on in English. These matters concern more than just people who know Portuguese. I do appreciate your prompt reply.

It did took me though by complete surprise. Either I don't know what I'm talking about or we're not talking about the same thing,

I made a test just for you and the result is as follows:

1) acção acto actor actriz adoptar afecto direcção excepto objectivo óptimo redacção seleccionar tacto Egipto há-de hão-de

With the exception of há-de hão-de, all the other words are underlined in red, showing me that I misspelled them

2) ação ato ator atriz adotar afeto direção exceto objetivo ótimo redação selecionar tato Egito há de hão de

All these pass the "Check Spelling."

Given this information what do you have to say in support of your statement that "right now the dictionary of Firefox 4 [...] precede the [so called] orthographic agreement." How do you maintain that statement faced with the evidence that I'm providing above and that corroborates my question and detailed explanation?

I'm talking about THIS page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/language-tools/ where one can find, for example, for French:

Install Dictionary (248 KB) (Classique)

Install Dictionary (260 KB) (Classique & Réforme 1990)

Install Dictionary (248 KB) (Réforme 1990)

Install Dictionary (245 KB) (Modern)

For Brazilian the situation is as follows:

Install Dictionary (142 KB) (Palavras mais usadas)

Install Dictionary (1312 KB) (Maioria das palavras existentes)

Install Language Pack (119 KB)

The difference between the 1312 KB of the Brazilian dictionary and the meager 244 KB for Portuguese are a shame and an humiliation to the Portuguese and the Portuguese language (form Portugal, if you wish, I don't know any other one).

To invoke that all work is made on a voluntary basis is totally inadequate and none of the links you provide did I find anything whatsoever about the Português (de Portugal) dictionary.

No answer was given to the request that is basically just to make available an earlier version of the dictionary now available for download.

No answer was given, as well to the request to DO the proper translation: Portuguese (Portugal) = Português (de Portugal) like it is done for many other languages. If that's not discrimination against Portugal and the Portuguese people, you tell me what discrimination is and what you call that.

The fact that you and your colleagues are doing a marvelous work that we all appreciate and thank you for, does not entitle you to treat others as fools. I urge you to handle this matter fairly in a gentleman manner. Please take care of this in such way that everybody gains and we can all be proud of who we are and what we're doing.

Sincerely,

Virgilio A. P. Machado

Joaquim Gil"

Com posturas de total autismo como estas, sou obrigado a inferir que este "projecto" de diccionário português não passa de uma mera farsa perpretada por mais uns lacaios pró-brasileiros que em nada dignificam a nossa língua camoniana.

Que alguém com educação, instrução, e verdadeiro sentido patriótico pegue neste projecto e o conduza da forma correcta e urgente para que ninguém seja marginalizado nem sonegado nos seus direitos mais básicos - o de ter a sua língua bem escrita - são os meus sinceros desejos.

Joaquim Gil
