After I downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0, I started getting the message "You are missing the plugin VLC to play videos" on the home page of my ISP Roadrunner. I downloaded and installed what i thought was the VLC download (XvidSetup.exe), but I am still getting the message and the videos do not play.it still does not work.

XvidSetup.exe from Xvid.org installs the Xvid codec but does not include a plugin. However that may not be what you need. It sounds as though the page is specifically asking for the VLC plugin to play your video.

Go to the VideoLAN homepage and download the VLC player. Note that the plugin is experimental therefore it's not installed by default, so watch the install screens and make sure to mark the checkbox for the plugin. The current version is vlc-1.1.8-win32.exe.

There is a 3rd party xvid plugin available (not from xvid.org) required by some sites but I haven't run into a download that isn't marked as virus/malware by my security suite so I can't recommend a download site to you.
