I've opened firefox today and notice what appears to be a new add on in the toolbar called "Apps4U" it's animated which is quite annoying when browsing. But I didn't ask for this add on and don't know where it's come from and googling it turns up no relevant information. Where has it come from and how do I remove it? Thank you

Here's a really easy way to dump that annoying toolbar (and the darned Bing search which became my default search engine).

Go to Firefox preferences, click on General then click add ons, then click manage add ons. Go through the list of add ons then simply delete the Vuze Toolbar.

Restart Firefox and your done!!

Apps4u is an eyesore. I feel violated. Am using Safari until I can make it go away. This is insane.

APPS4U seems to be part of the Vuze Community toolbar, because when I removed that, poof! No APPS4U!

Thanks for the advice, thegman. It removed the Vuze toolbar which is fine by me. However, every time we click on a link to our web host, a nuisance page from Apps4U telling us the site is untrustworthy still comes up. How can they keep stopping us from going to our own web host, after we've deleted the toolbar and cookies?

What's even more annoying is that the message is written so it seems like it's coming from Mozilla, so they are exploiting the good name of Firefox to do something quite unethical.

Removed Vuze toolbar and Apps4U has gone. Marvelous. Many thanks you lot.

Same thing happened here... an Apps4U floating mini-window appeared out of nowhere this morning.

I traced it back to the Vuze application and toolbar.

I found the Vuze application in the Applications folder.

I found the Vuze/Apps4U toolbar stuff in the my Home folder/Library/Application Support/Vuze.

Oh my gosh! Vuze and Apps4U had their own little world and were tracking me four ways to Sunday!

151 objects occupying 27.9 Mb in less than a day.

Apps4U apparently cut a deal with Vuze on my privacy.

Deleted the whole thing and restarted.

Neither are welcome back on my computers.

Unfortunately, I followed these steps but do not find Vuze or Apps4U in my Add-ons, Applications, nor even by searching my computer. I have NO enabled add-ons. So this came from nowhere and is quite annoying, coupled with a popup. Any other ideas for finding/removing the pest?
