When saving bookmark, can't scroll down list of previously saved bookmark folders; can't save new book mark ("places" file is NOT read only )

a) I imported my bookmarks, .json file from other computer. b) all folders and sub-folders full of bookmarks appear on bookmarks list and are selectable to go to each web location c) When attempting to <bookmark this page> in pop-up box under bookmarks menu I am unable to scroll down the list of bookmark folders; also not able to add new folder. d) checked profile directory and files - set all to allow read/write/all priviliges e) running Windows 7 - 64 bit and FireFox 8.x something f) don't feel like upgrading ( I want my toolbars ) g) I'm done. workarounds = migrate to Google Chrome, import bookmarks for HTML file or painstakingly recreate. h) breathe deeply; move on

Did you try to delete all places files and restore the bookmarks from that JSON backup or place that JSON backup as only file in the bookmarkbackups folder to make Firefox use it to rebuild the places.sqlite database?
