I normally keep the "new tab" window open. On starting up firefox. new tab on file menu does not operate. "new window" opens a 2cm. square of the top left corner containing the red, amber & green buttons. Clicking the green button fills the screen. "new tab" then operates from file menu and "new screen" can be deleted.

I tried troubleshooting; updated plugins; disabled add ons; used safe mode. Problem persists.

Check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.

You can also try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Go to "~/Library/Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist)
