When prompted with the news of an update (together with the stern admonishment that I should update my software), I click on the "go." But, the download never converges...even if I let it run overnight. The only solution seems to be to uninstall the old version and to install the new one. It's almost enough to get me to give up on Firefox.

This happens sometimes but it's difficult to pinpoint the cause. The solution that should work nearly every time is to just download and install the latest version from mozilla.org/firefox
