I was using normally and then when I was creating another tab it crashed. After some repeated clicks on the Firefox icon, was offered the option of reseting. And even now it wont open.

Can you start Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold the shift key when launching the program. The goal is to get to the small dialog with "Start in Safe Mode" or "Reset" and choose "Start in Safe Mode".
