hello guys. after the last beta update, beta 9 if i remember correctly (about section of the browser says ver 32) the downloads are misbehaving. the first problem i encountered is when i downloaded a zip file (about 40 kb) the zip was downloaded on the pc i could open it an everything was ok, but in firefox download it was showing as downloading. i tried both download and open option for the zip. after that i tried to download something else and everything was ok. the real problem is when i try to delete the download or cancel it nothing happens. i restarted the browser and the downloads are still paused. how can i fix it?

Chosen solution

Note that the Firefox source code shows that this has been done deliberately.

972 // Turn off remote lookups in beta and stable channel.
973 #ifndef RELEASE_BUILD
974 pref("browser.safebrowsing.appRepURL", "https://sb-ssl.google.com/safebrowsing/clientreport/download?key=%GOOGLE_API_KEY%");
975 #endif

hello theo_basketball, this appears to be a reproducible bug in the latest beta version, i've filed https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1057764 for it.

a workaround for the moment would be to enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up), right-click somewhere on the page and create a new string setting with the name "browser.safebrowsing.appRepURL" and value "https://sb-ssl.google.com/safebrowsing/clientreport/download?key=%GOOGLE_API_KEY%"

Info box popped up telling me to update to Firefox 31.0.1; however, when I checked yes I saw that the update was downloading at 28.8kb/sec.

When I check the Mozilla website for current version it tells me that I have the most current version -- if so why was I told to download 31.0.1.

It's been going on for days and it also tells me that Firefox 31.0 is being downloaded -- not 31.0.1.

How can I stop the download?

You can find the full version of the current Firefox 32.0.1 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

Try this:

  • Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop
  • Start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon

As suggested, I downloaded and moved the file to my desktop, and then started the installation of Firefox 32.0.1.

As me if I wanted to upgrade which I did and everything went smooly from there!

When the new reincarnation if Firefox appeared I hit ALT, About Firefox and gladly saw that in fact I was now using 32.0.1 and the persistent download of 31.0 had disappeared.

Thank you cor-el, hope this helps other people also!!!
