Before the update on 12/9/14, whenever I clicked a link on any website it would open in a new tab. Now since the update, new links open in my current tab. I've looked under tools in the tabs section and nothing there resolves my issue. How can I switch it back?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

As far as I know you are now in the normal, default mode. You may have had an add-on that opened links in new tabs but I don't know of one.

I suspect there might be an about:config change that can achieve your desired setting but I'm moving outside my territory.

On a case by case basis, you can of course right click to open in a new tab.
