Firefox is slow and will not quit on command Q, or takes a few minutes. If I try to shut down the Mac from the Apple menu, it hangs up, and prevents the Mac from shutting down too.

Plugins: Adblock Plus, Ghostery, HTTPs Everywhere, HTTPS finder, WOT, Download helper

Not a techie. Thanks

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
