Any way to install the Google search engine without add-ons?

Firefox (at least on the Linux version) does not include the Google search engine by default. It also cannot be manually installed by navigating to google.com as there is no "add search engine" button in the drop-down menu in the search bar. (I am not settling for alternatives like DuckDuckGo or Startpage.)

Is there any way to install it without the use of add-ons?

That sounds like a bug. The "add search engine" for Google works for me on Linux. Google also has their own blue banner that appears whenever I do a Google search saying "Set Google as your default search engine."

There is no way to manually modify the search engines, however. The good news is, you don't need to keep whatever add-on you use to add a search engine. Those add-ons are only necessary to get the search engine added. After you've added Google search you can remove the add-on.

This "bug" still has not been fixed.
