Unneeded extra line below url/tool bar with icons and phrases "most visited" "getting started" & (three identical times) "from internet explorer" showed up after I implemented Mozilla's suggestion on how I could get faster startup. Useless, takes up space, want to hide or delete it. How?

Hi, that sounds like the bookmarks bar. to remove it, right click in the tab bar (but not on a tab) and deselect Bookmarks Toolbar. Also see - Bookmarks Toolbar - Display your favorite websites at the top of the Firefox window.
