How can I decide whether to keep the data on the server or the device as I used to be able to do when I reset my password?

I need to reset my password but want to keep the data on the serve, not the device. how can I do that? We used to be able to choose. Now it seems someone decided to change that to what they wanted without regard to users, which I find strange, given Mozilla used to be very customer-centric with a great UX.

The password of the Sync account is used to encrypt your personal data before it is uploaded to the Sync server, so if this password gets changed then data on the Sync server can't be decrypted. Data on other connected devices should still be there (you will have to change the password on all connected devices). So always make sure to remember this Firefox account password and only use a password change if you deliberately want to reset your personal data.
