Hot to stop Firefox from changing my selection?

more options

Options -> Advanced -> Update

I select the option "Check for updates, but let you choose whether to install them." I have done so every single time I go into options to clean the Cached Web Content.

Firefox is automatically overriding my choice. Why is that? I would never choose never update.

It's becoming extremely frustrating. Please help. Thank you.

Chosen solution

Is not going to happen. Sorry. Is forced updated. Can go up to ver 57.0.1 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ or take the update. I suggest the Installer.

Look for replacement Extensions : https://mozilla.github.io/extension-finder/ If there is not one maybe in a few months to not at all do to Security and Mozilla not providing access to it's interface and engine so that addons can not be hacked or break Firefox

There is nothing to argue about here as Support Volunteers can't make changes to Firefox nor make the rules. To submit suggestions for new or changed features, may I suggest: Feedback: https://qsurvey.mozilla.com/s3/FirefoxInput/

or option :

Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 and below is no longer safe to use for every day use do to security issues, but 52.5.0 ESR is. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.

You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Please Update your Video Card Drivers : AMD Radeon HD 7640G a year old.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

When you make that change don't do it while you're in Private Browsing mode. Pref changes aren't remembered when using Private Browsing mode.
