Other users offer script to perform a task. I can view the text online but I can't save it to an editor and save it as an executable text file. I use linux and gvim for my editor.

What is preventing you from copying that text to the clipboard and paste it is a text document?

You only have to save the file and use chmod to set the executable (x) bit.
