When will support end for Windows 7 ?

I do know Microsoft extended support ends on Jan. 14, 2020. I'd like to know if anyone knows if there has been a date set for Windows 7 support to end.

Chosen solution

I'm not sure anyone has time to think about how to _stop_ supporting Windows 7.

Eventually it will occur when someone introduces code that can only run on Windows 8 and higher, and can't be made to work on Windows 7. You'll probably hear the screaming months in advance if you keep an eye on /r/Firefox: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/

Yes, I agree this is a concern. I ran XP for a long time. One day quite by surprise while doing a Fox & Bird update, I received a notice that Firefox and Thunderbird were no longer supported in Win-XP. I had to scramble to get a Win-7 up and running. It would be nice if the support team would give us a heads up when support for 7 will end.

Hi jim442, as far as I know, Windows 7 users do not need to make any changes to continue using Firefox. If you are having problems running Firefox, please start a new question (there's a "Get Community Support" link in the upper left corner of forum pages).

You should not try to completely strip out Internet Explorer because it is closely integrated with Windows.

thanks-but according to computer experts, continuing to use Win 7 will result in malware and problems that will eventually shut down your computer! no matter what browser is used-I had hopes that maybe Firefox could help with the potential problem-so far,I have no problems thanks

No, unfortunately, Firefox cannot patch over vulnerabilities in the operating system.
