Hello,

You may have seen a post or received a notification regarding support for Firefox or Thunderbird with a link to another site or a phone number being posted. This is a scam and is not a method to receive support from Mozilla. Mozilla does not have telephone or email support. Please do not click on the link and do not interact by calling any phone numbers or email addresses listed. I apologize for any inconvenience caused. You are currently posting on the official Mozilla website and will receive assistance here.

There is only a pref to move the search suggestions to the bottom, but there is no way to sort the items you see in the drop-down list.

As a workaround you can use a special character to match a bookmarks search (*) or a history search (^).

Hi keskin123, if you notice that there are not enough slots to show all the bookmarks you want to see, since they may have a lower relevance score than a history entry, you can increase the number of suggestions from 10 to 15 or as many as will fit on your screen. Here's how:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste URLB and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.urlbar.maxRichResults preference to display an editing field, and change the value from 10 to 15 then press Enter or click the blue check mark button to save the change. If that isn't enough, try another number. You can change back just as easily.

Thanks to every helpful reply. cor-el understood my question. But are you really sure that there is no way to sort the suggestions? I would be very dissapointed since mozilla is a webbrowser with many features.

Hello,

It's normal for bookmark, history, and open tab suggestions to get mixed together based on the computed frecency rating. There is an about:config setting to determine where search engine suggestions appear (above vs. below), but I'm not aware of any setting to detangle bookmarks, history, and open tabs.

While you can use CSS to regroup the items visually, the underlying order is not changed, so when you down arrow, the bar skips around. If you use the mouse, that may not be annoying to you...

 /* switch tab, then bookmarks, then history */
 #PopupAutoCompleteRichResult .autocomplete-richlistitem[type="switchtab"]{
   -moz-box-ordinal-group: 2;
 }
 #PopupAutoCompleteRichResult .autocomplete-richlistitem[type="bookmark"]{
   -moz-box-ordinal-group: 3;
 }
 #PopupAutoCompleteRichResult .autocomplete-richlistitem[type="favicon"]{
   -moz-box-ordinal-group: 4;
 }
