when i type in a search term in the address bar it takes me to an ask jeeves search page instead of google or straight to my desired webpage

When i used to type in a search term in the address bar it would have came up with that webpage straight away e.g. when i typed in hotmail it would take me to hotmail.com if i typed in facebook it would take me to facebook.com and if not it would have taken me to a google search page but now when i do it it takes me to an ask jeeves serach page displaying search results. how can i return this to the way it was? thanks

Try the following, it will reset a couple of the location bar search options.

  1. Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
  2. Accept the warning message that appears, this will then bring up a list of preferences
  3. In the filter box type keyword to get it to show a couple of preferences
  4. If either keyword.enabled or keyword.URL have the status set to user set, right-click on them and choose Reset
