I use Firefox 3.6. I upgraded to the new Firefox version; could'nt find my bookmarks, tabs, wndows. It was terrible. Went back to 3.6. Afraid that I will lose personal data. Does Firefox keep your data when you upgrade?

I use Vista 64 bit operating system. I assume that my customized layout will be lost when I upgrade, but will my layout, bookmarks, tabs, etcetera, be retained somewhere recallable such that I can recustomize what I had?

Hi dnease,

You should look at this article that discusses common questions after upgrading. I think it will answer most of your questions. When you are ready to attempt the update again, just follow the steps in Update Firefox to the latest release.

You might want to look at Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles as well. That article will show you how to make a complete backup of your personal settings just in case something goes wrong during the update.
