On the address bar the www is grey. The website will not load. if I hover over the earth icon before the www, i get a message that displays: "This website does not supply ownership information". I have not encountered a problem with any other websites so far, and I have no problem accessing this website from IE. Any help? Thanks, Paul

Is this a site you've visited many times before? When you have a problem with a normally working site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog, you can remove the site's cookies individually. If you can't get a page on the site to open, open that same dialog from this site, then change the site in the search box above the cookie list to get at your site's cookies so you can remove them.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

You see a "This website does not supply ownership information" tooltip if you have a normal http connection, so this would normally not cause a problem.

You can remove all stored data from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry (Show All History or History sidebar) or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove everything like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions from that domain, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks. You can't recover from that "forget" unless you have a backup of the affected files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Thanks for the response, but this website is used for charting financial info and I have templets set up that I use daily and do not wish to lose all the info that is set up there. Is there anything else that I might be able to do to remedy this problem. This browser seems quicker than IE and I would really like to use it instead.

Hi paulieg, when cor-el says all data will be removed, that means all the data stored in Firefox, not the data saved on the website itself. Firefox can't remove that, nor does it try. Just to make sure: if the templates are stored by Firefox, then you wouldn't have those same templates when you visit using another browser or another computer.
