How can I delete a selected bookmark from the sidebar using only the keyboard?

I prefer working with bookmarks via the sidebar. When I want to delete one, I have to right-click and select Delete. However, it would be much faster (and having used Opera for the past 12+ years much more familiar to me) to just hit the Delete key on my mac once the bookmark is selected. There doesn't appear to be a keyboard shortcut for this function. Is it possible to set one up in the configuration? Thanks.

I dont think you can do that, though you can write a report to bugzilla.mozilla.org and let it be a new feature.

Does Shift+Delete work (that would be the same key sequence as to remove selected items from a drop-down list)?

Thank you both for the responses. @cor-el: Shift-Delete did not work. @Waka_Flocka_Flame: I'll follow your suggestions.
