After several major attempts to change my new tab, I'm not able to. I've tried to change the browser through browser.newtab.url, but then when I hit modify and confirm the page that I want it to go to, it does not change. Please do not mention a reset, as this does not help.

What is the current value of the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

Do you mean to start my computer in safe mode? I do not want to do that.

The "preferences not saved" article did not help me at all. I need a simple solution, not a website.

I had the same problem check if there is a program running in the background that prevent you from changing the new tab. after I uninstalled it from the control panel everything worked fine for me.
