I am supposed to be on the esr release program, but today I was automatically updated to beta release 133.0. This is the second time this happened. Thunderbird shows a red screen, and recommends I install the last stable release, 128.5.0esr, which is what I want to do. But the last time, when I tried to go back to a stable release, it then wouldn't let me do that because it says the profile may no longer be compatible. I solved it painfully using timemachine backups of older profiles.

What is the simplest, safest way to downgrade, now that I am in this situation? And why is this happening?

Thanks for your help!

Hallo, I have installed the "Thunderbird " app on my smartphone as I already have this programme on my PC. Now I want to export the dat, but I get a message described above

"Bestätigung der Identität" - Überschrift "Windows Sicherheit" mit Eingabe von Benutzername und Kennwort Confirmation of identity- heading windows Security by entering user name and password.

I don´t know the password. Can`t I change the password?

I have now entered all possible variations of passwords, but nothing fits. I have signed in to Microsoft, can still access my account, but no longer use it. This password is not accepted either. So I can`t create the QR code.

Can you help me? Anne Buchholz from germany.

i am using the Windows 10 PC version of Firefox, with updates set to automatic.

i've been having a consistent issue where themes won't be maintained between restarts of the application. If i set it to any theme, close the browser, and reopen it, it will show the chosen theme for about a second, and then revert to a strange non-existent theme that is a slate gray background with white text and no color accents. It will still show the selected theme as being active in the themes menu, and disabling and re-selecting the theme i want will make it reappear again.

i've been ignoring this issue thus far as it's just a cosmetic issue and i didn't care enough to go digging for a solution. However, with the 133.0.3 update yesterday, the default theme is getting messed up as well. It seems like it's mixing up the light and dark themes, as it has the grey/black background, but all the secondary text is displaying in black, meaning i can't see the text in the application menu, address bar, or bookmarks bar folders.

This issue is occurring with Mozilla themes, Marketplace themes, and custom Color themes. Does anyone know of a fix for this issue, or at the very least a fix for the black text?

Last Friday I took up the firefox update. I always wait 3 days b4 I do in case there are any bugs. Lost everything on desktop and there was a msg " This update is not compatible with yr computer, please re-instal firefox" but it was a catch 22 situation cos every time I tried to re-install firefox I got nothing but the same message! I had version 133.0 (64 BIT) and the newer version was & still is 133.0.3. Eventually Edge came to my rescue and took me back to the older version (133.0). Then a couple of days later I'm getting incessant offers to update! I checked the Firefox updater & the new update is the same as the one that caused my desktop computer to crash so keep dismissing it unless u can promise me it wont happen again! My son is an IT specialist; he had to drive 100 miles to come help me get back everythng I lost. I dont like the newer update .. not interested in side bars; just want it to be the same all the time! So question is: if I take up the newer update, is it still incompatible with my comp? Am running W10 on it.

I did see the question here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1448269

And the answer is not useful, mainly because apt-get does not use a browser to update its cache.

Err:16 https://packages.mozilla.org/apt mozilla/main all Packages

 400  Bad Request [IP: 34.160.78.70]

E: Failed to fetch https://packages.mozilla.org/apt/dists/mozilla/main/binary-all/Packages 400 Bad Request [IP: 34.160.78.70 443] E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Using curl/wget/httpie works as intended, just apt-get update fails.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I have a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS CPU, including a Radeon 780M iGPU, running Ubuntu 24.04. In order to fully utilize the GPU by supporting OpenCL acceleration I installed the additional drivers by: `sudo amdgpu-install --usecase=graphics,multimedia,opencl --opencl=rocr --opengl=mesa`

After that programs which benefit from OpenCL acceleration recognize the GPU, however firefox starts crashing with the following error msg:

XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/lib/firefox/libmozgtk.so: libwayland-client.so.0: failed to map segment from shared object Couldn't load XPCOM.

It seems that the AMD GPU drivers registered their libraries in `/etc/ld.so.conf.d` as 10-rocm-opencl.conf, 20-amdgpu.conf which means that libraries within the given folders are found first.

This applies to the libwayland-client library, which is used by `/usr/lib/firefox/libmozgtk.s`:

ldd /usr/lib/firefox/libmozgtk.so | grep amd libwayland-client.so.0 => /opt/amdgpu/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libwayland-client.so.0 (0x00007013767bf000)

Interestingly the same `libmozgtk.so` library is used by thunderbird:

ldd /usr/lib/thunderbird/libmozgtk.so | rg -i amd libwayland-client.so.0 => /opt/amdgpu/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libwayland-client.so.0 (0x00007d44b0f41000)

However thunderbird just works fine, so I expect that there might be something wrong with firefox utilizing this library.

Maybe I should also mention, that I'm not even using wayland as desktop compositor, but good old x11:

echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE x11

Is there any way to further debug this issue?

Ok. I'm visually impaired. until version 90, I think, Firefox was great. Then it got so bad that I tried other browsers, but finding anything with support for the visually impaired is impossible now - we just don't count, that's obvious.

The newest version, what is it? 84357348957? Is impossible. I don't know why the lines between tabs were removed. I assume the developers thought it looked cool, without thinking that SOME OF US DON'T SEE WELL. I can barely use it now. I need to get back to an earlier, at least slightly usable version without losing everything - and I need some way to not be bothered with a popup for update 954785 this week.

Yes, I sound angry. I know that's not cool with tech. But you know? There is no need for 10-20 updates a month. And there's no bloody excuse for the complete disregard for the visually impaired that is now Mozilla's trademark.

Any help would be appreciated.

This has been a problem for me for a very long time, and I'm tired of having to use chrome every time there's an update to firefox.

The issue I have is that I will get the notification saying there's an update. I click the button to update now, the browser opens the auto download page and I get a not secure connection warning. The only work around I've found is to use chrome, and sometimes I can use the "other downloads".

I'm not running a VPN, or any other networking software on my pc. This is for the full program, not the windows store app.
