I have tried absolutely everything that was recommended on the "can't download or save link". it used to work beautifully but somehow it just doesn't get activated anymore. this applies to youtube, and all other sites. thanks!

Does Youtube have a download link? I think you might need an add-on for that.

If you used Firefox's Reset feature, you probably lost the extension that was providing this function, or which was broken, depending on how you look at it. Can you find an "Old Firefox Data" folder on your desktop? It can be difficult to figure out the names of your old extensions because they often are saved in folders named with long strings of numbers and letter (unique IDs).

Maybe if you describe how the link/button/menu used to look someone will recognize which extension it was. For example, the icon/button for Video DownloadHelper looks like 3 different colored balls.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences

Then Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?. Then restart.
