back button on mouse only works if cursor is in certain places

this problem does not occur when using other browsers. also does not occur on all websites. always happens on youtube- if hovering over the video- the side button on the mouse won't initiate a 'back' command.. if the cursor is hovering over other areas it works. Backspace key on keyboard always works regardless of cursor location.

doubt that it's significant, since this does not happen when browsing with Opera, but comp is lenovo y500 W8, mouse is a corsair vengeance. 

sounds minor, I know.. but this is frustrating. Can anyone help?

That's interesting. The left and right mouse buttons obviously would be sent to the plugin when you have the mouse pointer hovered over it, but keyboard events (I think the mouse software sends "Back" by simulating a key press) shouldn't be affected by the mouse pointer position. There seems to be some hybrid of the two happening here.

You might also try searching around on the web if you don't find anything useful here (the search engine here is primitive).
