Why is Thunderbird asking for my password for one email address when I know the password I'm using is correct and other email accounts work?

I have 5 Gmail accounts and access all of them using Thunderbird. One of my accounts asks for my password every time I try to send an email from that account. When I enter the password it asks again, without sending the message. I know that I have the correct password because I can logon when I go to the gmail website directly. Also, this only happens when I try to send an email, not when I open Thunderbird.

I have noticed that in the other gmail accounts, when I check the account settings under 'Server Settings' the Authentication method says, 'Normal Password' and with the account I'm having trouble with says, 'Encrypted Password.' When I change the problematic setting to 'Normal Password' the program then asks for my password every time I launch Thunderbird, and when I type the correct one, it asks again until I click 'Cancel' in the password window. When the Authentication method is set to 'Encrypted Password' only sending email results in being asked for the password.

There's an extensive article here which includes information about Gmail password authentication and the use of 'less secure' email clients: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_Gmail_with_Thunderbird_and_Mozilla_Suite

I tried to allow less secure apps to access the email and, at first there was no change. Then I went into the Authentication method and selected "Normal password," this time it worked. Lets hope it remains fixed. I am not going to declare this problem 'fixed' for a bit of time, in order to make sure over time that the problem is TRULY fixed.

Thanks for the help, amanchesterman! So far, it worked.
