I have been using Thunderbird for a couple of years to download my numerous email accounts and Thunderbird is set to automatically update itself. In the last few days Thunderbird has become unable to login (using the correct password) to my Apple email account to download my emails, however all the other email accounts still work ok. I get the error message: - "Login to server imap.mail.me.com failed" imap.mail.me.com uses SSL/TLS and having read about Logjam, I downloaded the "Disable DHE" add-on and this fails to fix the problem. If I use the same password and login using a browser to my Apple account, I can read the emails that way. Something has changed in the last few days to cause this to happen. Please help Regards. Del (delboy275@me.com)

What are the server settings required by Apple?

having read about Logjam, I downloaded the "Disable DHE" add-on and this fails to fix the problem.

What made you think the Apple server is (still) vulnerable to the Logjam attack? Don't mess with security settings unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Have you checked with Apple if there is a problem with their servers?

Please post your Troubleshooting Information. At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help > Troubleshooting Information. Press the Copy text to clipboard button and paste the information into your reply.

Apple yesterday confirmed no problems with their servers and that I should call yourselves, but they and I could not find your phone number on the web.

Mozilla support website says, there maybe Logjam problems with their new update where sites still use SSL/TLS, which is what Apple use.

The Apple settings required as taken from their website are:-

IMAP information for the incoming mail server •Server name: imap.mail.me.com •SSL Required: Yes If you see an error message when using SSL, try using TLS instead. •Port: 993 •Username: This is usually the name part of your iCloud email address (for example, emilyparker, not emilyparker@icloud.com). If your email client can't connect to iCloud using just the name part of your iCloud email address, try using the full address. •Password: Your iCloud password

SMTP information for the outgoing mail server •Server name: smtp.mail.me.com •SSL Required: Yes If you see an error message when using SSL, try using TLS or STARTTLS instead. •Port: 587 •SMTP Authentication Required: Yes •Username: Your full iCloud email address (for example, emilyparker@icloud.com, not emilyparker) •Password: Your iCloud password

I have followed this to the letter and as I stated before, everything worked perfectly until around 25 March.

Please Note: my Windows software also updates automatically.

I'd hope that Apple still use TLS for their servers. The problem with Logjam was a certain configuration option with SSL/TLS, not using it per se. I'd expect Apple to have this fixed long time ago.

Your IMAP server setting looks good.

Thunderbird has become unable to login (using the correct password) to my Apple email account to download my emails,

Are you saying you can still send messages via your Apple email account?

I have followed this to the letter and as I stated before, everything worked perfectly until around 25 March.

I can believe that, hence the question if there are any known problems with Apple servers.

Are you running any kind of anti-virus/security software?

Can you try the following from a shell?

openssl s_client -connect imap.mail.me.com:993
Ctrl-C

Please post the result.

Do you see anything relevant in the error console? Press Ctrl+Shift+J to bring up the error console.

Apple yesterday confirmed no problems with their servers and that I should call yourselves, but they and I could not find your phone number on the web.

Thunderbird is a community project, not a commercial product. There simply aren't enough resources and budget to maintain a help desk with phone support. Hence no phone number to call for support.
