my speed dial FVD frequently crashes and I reset them Under "tools" and "add-ons" I find them disabled and enable them again.
My Fvd speedial appears to disable itself. I notice that it does this because when I open my browser I find unwanted tabs of add - on requests to install them. I enable the Fvd and Ultimate Ad blocker under the "tools" and "add-on menu. This will work for a -day-. Then the whole operation starts over again.

SpeedDial may be using the Flash plugin.
You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and hardware acceleration in Firefox and try this:
- make sure you have the latest Flash version:
