Why can't thunderbird provide a way to retrive folders etc is an account is deleted by accident. There should be a way to retrieve in case of accident.
when I deleted my account as the ATT person suggested when I was haveing connection issues my folders disappeared. Now I can't get them back. my contact list is still there, why doesn't thunder bird keep the folders and msg also so you can create a new account and have those folders available. I think these should have been included as an option. Now my mail is gone ATT says soorrrry and I'm depressed. :(

You mean like these instructions? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Recovering_deleted_mail_accounts
Air mail thanks for those instructions but after finding my profile and finding what looks like my old folders when I tried to install the export/import it failed since I have version 45.2 installed and Thunderbird is now using a verify check for all add-ons. :( those nice guys who wrote the app need to get a verify something or other. Could I just drag and drop the folders from the old named directory into the new one? would that work or is there some overhead booking that is done.
You could try. I have never deleted an account because I know the messages go away with it if using POP mail. If using IMAP they should still be on the server. If using POP move your messages to a folder or folders under Local Folders before removing the account. Import export should still work with the new version. I am on an Android device right now and cannot confirm.

Good day to you Airmail :)
ImportExportTools works with Thunderbird 1.0 - 45.*
Most folk don't select a folder in the folder pane. Then complain that the add-on does not work.
Create the folder you want to import to Right click it. Select "ImportExport Tools"
Bypasses the regular idea that the computer knows what the user is thinking and should just work.
