How do I get my open page to highlight the address bar again?

After a recent Firefox update, when opening a new page/tab, my address bar no longer automatically highlights in blue so that I can instantly type a new address in it. As it stands now, I have double click the address bar to highlight the bar myself. It would be nice to have the address bar - IN A NEW PAGE/TAB - automatically do this. Having it automatically do this is one step that would be eliminated, and the address bar used to do this in the past.

Is there anyway that I can reset something to make this happen?

Thanks so much......

hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...
