Hi!

For a couple of weeks now I have been experiencing lag when watching twitch livestreams and youtube. The problem that I have been getting is that the second I start up a second livestream the first stream I just had open freezes. The second I close the new stream the old one resumes. Im getting the same internet speed that im paying for which is 100/100. When I try watching streams on google chrome I have no lag. I have tried to clear my cache and cookies and also uninstalled all addons but no result.

I believe that this issue is being addressed by the developers, but it's likely caused by throttling that Firefox does. Firefox slows the internet speed on certain tabs (usually just background tabs) to ensure that they don't impact the performance of the tab that you are currently using. However, there are some adverse effects when you are trying to play videos or audio in the background tabs.

You can try the following to improve the situation:

  1. Type about:config in the Firefox address bar
  2. Bypass the security warning
  3. Find the network.http.throttle.version preference
  4. Double click it and change the value to 1
  5. Restart Firefox

Hope this helps. If you notice that the problem gets worse, you can change the setting back to the default (which should be 2.

The value was already set to 1 so I changed it to 2 but that didn't fix it either
