Hi, I use Firefox 62.0 on Ubuntu and I would like to know how to backup my saved passwords without use Firefox Sync and without copy the entire profile folder. I'll explain: considering that for some generic problems the profile could be corrupted in the future, I would like to backup only my password without to be force to use Firefox Sync and uploading my passwords on cloud (with all the consequences on security and privacy) Is there any way to do this? Many thanks

Marco

Ok maybe the solution is very simple:

- in order to backup (and see) the stored passwords I can use ff-password-exporter

- in order to migrate the profile and transfer the passwords, I can copy these two files: logins.json and key3.db

That's all ;)

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

Ok it works like a charm!! I'm able to export my passwords without problems. Last question before close the topic: I'm installing (for example) from scratch a new instance of Firefox, I get preferences and extensions from cloud. To have a complete profile the last step is to import the password from the json/csv file obtained with ff-password-exporter. How can I do this?

I called for more help. I don't know that program. Have you checked with its support?
