Hey to everyone, I'm experiencing some odd behaviour on Google Maps and every hint I followed up till now would not help me. Hopefully someone here has the right idea whats going on.

If I move a map on Google Maps or zoom into it, the respoe is very slow and the screen turn black every now and then and sometimes it stays black. Site works fine in Safari and Opera.

Google Maps works just fine in Safe-Mode, but turning off hardware accelleration, themes and add-ons in normal mode does not do the trick. Also deleting cookies and emptying the cache does not help.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to. You may also lose any settings for that website.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?

While you are in safe mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

Thanks for the answer. As I was writting before I already tried all the things mentioned above and they don't change anything.

Except Safe-Mode where everything works fine.

So the question might be what is different in Safe-Mode that is not hardware acceleration, themes, add-ons, cache and cookies.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.

Make sure you are not blocking content.

One issue that seems more common lately is Firefox's Tracking Protection feature. When it is blocking content in a page, a shield icon will appear at the left end of the address bar next to the padlock icon. This article has more info on managing this feature: Tracking Protection {web link}

No content seems to be blocked on google-maps.

I can understand quite well what the safe mode is. But what does it tell if everything works quite well in safe mode but diabling everything mentioned in the article and the supporting links does not change anything. Including deleting the prefs flie, which I forgot to mention before.
