I received a pop-up that there's a new release of Thunderbird: 68.3.1. I click to get info, and it opens a tab in Thunderbird with the release notes. But there's no Download button. There's a "DOWNLOAD BETA" button, but I don't want Beta. I can click Nightly Channel, but I don't want Nightly either. And if I manually go over to https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/, its Download button gives me 68.3.0.

So how do I get 68.3.1?

how about clicking the install button on the notification. I think it say install, but it is a while since I have seen it. The other button defers the update.

I don't click on "Install" buttons because I don't want the software to install itself on top of itself. I install each version of Thunderbird (and Firefox) with its own name, so I can go back to a previous version if there is a show-stopper bug in the latest one.

Anyway, I filed a bug on this; see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1605524

Well given recent changes to Thunderbird's profile management I would suggest clicking on update buttons in the future.

I keep seeing people who are old school uninstall reinstall folks, but this is becoming more error prone as things like profile per install and downgrade protection get implemented. I do not see them implementing a download button from the release notes page. There never has been one, and I see no reason to have one really.

Looking at your bug, I really don't know which way the thing should move forward. Perhaps my comments will prompt something useful there.
