emails have recently started coming in script form not the normal language and characters
Im not well versed in computers, but about 3 weeks ago my email links come in a script form, instead of the usual english language and symbols and characters

try right clicking the folder and selecting properties on the menu. Then click the repair button. That usually fixes stuff that looks like computer code.

Those links seem to work perfectly, except that Google+ does not exist any more... Are these links you are sending out, or links you have received? Please upload screenshot of what you see in Thunderbird as requested - show one that looks the way you expect them to look (from before 3 weeks ago), and one that does not.
All my emails now come in this form. I then need to click on them to open. Before, I didn't need to click on the link, they were already open.
