I have two desktops and two laptops, all set to sync with the same account. Normally everything works great, a bookmark changed on a desktop changes on the other sync'd devices. But, today I turned on one of my laptops that hasn't been on for awhile and the bookmarks on it were quite outdated. It sync'd up so the other computers now have the older bookmarks :( I went to my desktop, restored a good bookmark backup file from yesterday but it reverted back to that old bookmarks file from my laptop. Is there a way I can control this better when powering on a laptop with old bookmarks? I assumed in this case it would sync and get current bookmarks instead of syncing up old bookmarks and my other computers then syncing down those older bookmarks. Help unconfuse me so this doesn't happen again, please.

Older rarely used devices should be able to synchronize data, but it may take a day or two to become fully synchronized on all connected devices. Many variables involved, like the amount of user data that Sync is dealing with, and even the shared load of the Sync server that your Firefox Account resides on which will vary throughout the day dependent upon how many Firefox users are online with Firefox open at the same time. And the server load would seem to me to be the the "strangling point" point for an out of touch device to get sync'd quicker.

I still don't understand. It would seem to me that when the unused laptop synced, all of the 'old' sync'd bookmarks went up to the cloud. I guess my lack of understanding stems from why did the desktops, which are often used, sync those old bookmarks down from the cloud? It would make sense to me that when the old laptop sync'ed it' would have pulled from the cloud, which has current bookmarks.
