Password manager is blocked and I cannot enter my primary password. I therefore cannot open any website requiring a password even when I know the password and try to enter it independently of the password manager. The error message starts "No synchronised logins found" even though this is my only computer.

Thank you for your help. I am afraid that the problem persists even after I disabled sync.

Are you using Sync and are there other devices that are connected to the same Sync account ?

Are you using a Primary Password as this doesn't sound like a problem with the PP ? This merely sounds like you haven't saved logins yet on this device and you are to load logins via Sync what seems to fail ?

Did you try to use "Create New Login" to see if you can add a login manually ?

You don't use sync but others are telling you that you do. Try signing out of your Firefox account.

@Terry Thank you. The problem persists even when I am signed out of my Firefox account.

@cor-el I am not using Sync and there are no devices connected other than this desktop PC.

I have been using a Primary Password successfully for a considerable time. Last week the system stopped accepting my Primary Password. Without the Primary Password I cannot open the Firefox password manager; change or disable the Primary Password; disable the password manager; create a new login or account; or manually enter a known password on any website.

You write: I am not using Sync and there are no devices connected other than this desktop PC.

no devices connected other than this desktop PC then this means that you do use Sync, but you do not use it to sync data between other devices.

What you write seems to indicate that you currently do not have any logins stored in the Password Manager.

Did you try to use "Create New Login" to see if you can add a login manually ?

@cor-el

Thanks.

Sync is disabled (OFF) on my only device.

All my logins were stored in the Password Manager. Since I cannot access Password Manager, I have no way of knowing if they are still there or have been deleted.

As above, I cannot access "Create New Login" nor turn off the Primary Password.

In my previous post, I said that I could not manually enter existing passwords on websites that I use. I have now found that I can enter passwords when I know them by ignoring (cancelling) the request for a primary password.

@cor-el

In desperation I reset my primary password as suggested on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-your-primary-password-if-youve-forgotten-it.

I still cannot open Logins and Passwords and there is no possibility of providing a new primary password or reaching any of my settings. In particular I cannot access "Create New Login" nor turn off the Primary Password.

I should welcome any suggestions to break this log jam.
