Filters when 'Getting New Mail'

I have several filters set up to automatically organise certain automatic emails which I do not need to read, but do need to save, into folders. The filters are set to be active when 'Getting New Mail', however they are not acting as I'd expect.

When I receive new mail, and it downloads mails which should be filtered, they appear in my inbox - they are not filtered. If I press 'Get messages' then the filters are applied and the emails are moved from the inbox to the various folders. If I don;t press 'Get Messages' then they sit in my inbox, clogging it up with spam. But this isn't really applying the filters upon 'Getting New Mail', it's actually more like manually applying the filters, because I have to hit the 'Get Messages' button for the filter to apply, or wait for the next scheduled time that mails are downloaded from the server.

Is there a way to get the filters to be applied immediately that they are downloaded, triggered automatically by them being downloaded in the first instance.

As an aside, I know that filters can be run on a scheduled task every 10 minutes, but that's not a good workaround in my circumstances.

Yes they run immediately at receipt (thanks with this second check on screenshot)

Is this a POP or an IMAP account?

Hi David, It's an IMAP account.

That was my guess. Filters for IMAP accounts must be manually run, unlike filters on POP accounts.

Nope, I only have IMAP accounts and my filters runs automatically :)

@Quentin - do the filters run immediately that the emails are downloaded?

If so, that would suggest I'm experiencing a bug - is this the right forum to raise bugs with Mozilla?
